Event Summary

WALA “Copyright Law and the CASE Act” Online Clinic

w/ Lynn Hughes & the Arts & Entertainment Advocacy Clinic at Scalia Law

Join us for a virtual event discussing copyright law and the CASE Act, including insight from filmmaker Lynn Hughes.

The CASE Act, or the Copyright Alternative in Small-Claims Enforcement Act, was passed in December 2020 and created a small claims system within the United States Copyright Office. The discussion will pertain to the next steps that need to be taken and important things artists need to know concerning the smalls claims system. Artists of all kinds are welcome!

Please send questions in advance when registering, or to legalservices@waladc.org about copyright law in general and related questions on the CASE Act.

Sharing your questions in advance will help the Clinic cater to the live audience and better prepare for an active discussion.

The event will also include a streamed performance of Lynn Hughes’s work, “America I Am.”

The Clinic comprises a team of IP law students from the Antonin Scalia Law School, George Mason University, supporting arts and entertainment advocacy under the direction of Sandra Aistars, Clinical Professor of Law.
