Angel Nwachukwu is a media and entertainment attorney at NPR, where she advises on negotiating transactions for some of the network’s most acclaimed programming. She helps business teams understand how to acquire and secure the rights necessary for their projects, and how to maximize the organization’s rights through licensing and joint ventures.
Before joining NPR, Angel was a corporate associate at Cleary Gottleib in New York and later at Cooley LLP in Washington, D.C. She combines her background in corporate law and IP transactions with deep knowledge of the arts, media, and entertainment industries to provide practical legal advice that aligns with business objectives.
In addition to her work at NPR, Angel is actively involved in several professional organizations dedicated to the arts and entertainment sectors. She serves on the board of Vika Visual Rights Association, a DMV-based non-profit that assists emerging artists with resources for a sustainable art career. Since 2021, she has also served on the Education Committee for Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts, where she has hosted sessions on business entity formation and contract licensing for creatives. Angel is also an active member of the Black Entertainment and Sports Lawyers Association.
A proud Houston native, Angel earned her undergraduate degree from Duke University and her J.D. from Columbia Law School. She is licensed to practice law in New York, Texas, and Washington, D.C.
